Deep Pan Pizza – yeast free

Getting ready to move I am using up all the things in the cupboard and having a huge sack of flour there is a lot of baking being done and pizza.  This is a really great deep pan pizza crust, with no yeast.  I used melted butter instead of olive oil and it turned out with a good thick crust.

Yeast Free Deep Pan Pizza

  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tbsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil or melted butter
  • 1/2 to 2/3 cup water, as needed
  •  Tomato sauce
  •  Pizza toppings, as desired

Spray a deep-dish pizza pan with pan spray, or oil it lightly. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Combine the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl, using 1 1/2 cups flour. Add the first 1/2 cup of water and the oil or melted butter, and mix until the ingredients come together to form a dough. Use more water if it is dry and stiff, more flour if it is wet and sticky.
Turn the dough out onto a floured counter and knead for 3 or 4 minutes, until it is smooth and pliable. Let the dough rest for 5 minutes before continuing.
Roll or pat the dough into a thin round large enough to line the deep pizza pan. Spread it with tomato sauce and place the toppings as desired.
Bake the pizza until done, usually 20 to 25 minutes depending on the thickness of the toppings and cheese.
