Cultural Week June 2013 Bearskin Lake, Ontario
First lie the three main poles on the ground, tie them securely, then raise to form the basis of the tipi.
Then add the other poles, no need to fasten them, just lean them against the three main poles, ensuring that the tops are tightly together.
When all the poles are securely in place start to wrap the tarps.
Use a pole to push the tarp up the tipi and hold it in place until you fasten the ties in place.
Form a doorway and use other poles to hold the tarp in place if it is windy and the students got bored….
Family tipis at the feasting grounds.
