Seven Layer Dip
As a celebration for the evening that Allan came home from the conference, (without the vanilla extract and yeast), I decided to make him a Seven Layer Dip as he really enjoys movies and this would be a great snack to share while cuddled up watching one. This can be as many layers as you like, but I always call it a Seven Layer Dip as we got married on a day made up of 7’s. Romantic, huh?!
I don’t add a layer of beans as Allan doesn’t like them (might they be too like a vegetable?! ), but if you like beans, please do, they are great in a layered dip.
Seven Layer Dip
- Cream Cheese – heated just a little to make it spread over the top of the salsa – or just chunked and dropped randomly
- Grated cheese – I like a mixture of mozzarella and cheddar
- Nacho Cheese Sauce
- Sour cream
- Jalapenos – for the side, as I love them but Allan doesn’t
If you are using beans use them as your first layer, I don’t as Allan doesn’t like them, so my first layer is salsa.
Second layer, sour cream
Third layer, cream cheese and grated cheeses
This is were you can heat the dip until everything is all bubbly and gorgeous with the cheese on top all bubbling and brown.
Fourth layer, chopped lettuce
Fifth layer, chopped onion and scallions
Sixth layer, chopped tomato and peppers
Seventh layer, nacho cheese sauce – but only add this just before serving as it will wilt the lettuce otherwise.
You can add as many layers as you want, such as olives, corn, cilantro, avocados, jalapeños or whatever your heart desires, just remember not to heat this with the lettuce on top!
Serve with tortilla chips.
